Gun No. 2148 was completed circa 1911 as a 'Purdey pattern best'; gun No. 2268 was completed circa 1914. As the reference to gun No. 2148 indicates, the Atkin 'Spring-Opener' is based upon the Purdey (or Beesley) self-opening system but it has different ejector work
