A MEISSEN CANDLESTICK modelled in high relief with two scantily-clad cherubs holding a flower-garland emblematic of Spring, the playful figures around a rococo-scroll-moulded column supporting the nozzle, on a tripod flared circular base moulded with scrolls and shells and painted with butterflies and insects (chips to drip-pans, one shell, applied flowers, one drape, and to one putto's small finger), converted to a table-lamp, blue crossed swords mark, Pressnummer 48, incised P.165., iron-red painted number 28, circa 1880
