Its serpentined and bombé facade is embellished with a lozenge-cartouche of parquetry cubes, in an acanthus-scrolled frame incorporating Venus' scallops-shell badge. It derives from Louis XV furniture of the mid-eighteenth century, and relates to the style of furniture for which Francois Linke (1855-1946) gained a gold medal at the 1900 Paris exhibition.
