The present pointer and setter are known models by Ferdinand Pautrot, the present casts however, are more finely chased and chiselled than the known examples. The metallic patina and the minute detailing on these casts suggest that they were a specific commission in which the patron specified the finish, and probably date from the turn of the century. The realism of the two seated hounds is here further enhanced by the loving chiselling on the dogs and the game.
