Lot Essay

This cottage at Pinner was also painted by Helen's friend, Kate Greenaway. Greenaway painted it both with the Elms, seen in Allingham's drawing, and after they had been cut down, see I. Taylor, The Art of Kate Greenaway, Exeter, 1991, pp. 94, 97 (repr.). The house was demolished soon after this painting was executed
