Lot Essay

Often referred to as a softer version of Kokoschka Wilhelm Thöny was one of the founders of the Graz Secession. In 1938 he moved to New York where the majority of this works were destroyed in a fire. Later on in his life he travelled to France and adopted a Cézannesque style demonstrated in this work.
