Elaborate engraved title-border, 3 double-page letterpress genealogical tables, one double-page bird's-eye view of the town of Oldenburg by Pieter Bast, numerous woodcut or engraved illustrations, 4 full-page. (Tears at lower margins of 4 leaves, the tear running into the text in one instance, rustholes in margins of 2 other leaves, slight early but crude hand-colouring to 3 illustrations.) Contemporary vellum, later green cloth ties.

FIRST EDITION of this finely illustrated chronicle of the Westphalian principality of Oldenburg. The illustrations include portraits of the Counts and Countesses of Oldenburg, scenes from its history, some of its treasures (including a full-page engraving of the famous Oldenburg drinking horn), woodcuts of early seals and coins and battle scenes (including the EARLIEST WOODCUT VIEW OF COPENHAGEN).
