RARE. This work contains two treatises: the first on military architecture, the second on artillery and siege warfare. The author was a Florentine military engineer who participated at the victorious siege of Siena in 1556 and assisted in the reduction of Montalcino and Montichiello nearby. In 1578 he was charged by Rudolf II of Prague with the modernisation of imperial fortifications, and a few years later was invited by the Venetian senate to supervise defensive works in the lagoon.
