2° (307 x 210mm.). Engraved emblematic frontispiece, 114 engraved illustrations. (O4 holed with a little loss but neatly repaired, some light marginal worming, neatly repaired in most cases, occasionally just touching text.) Old vellum (spine and corners neatly repaired). Provenance: Bartolomeo Zanatta ('havuto in dono dal Sr. Bartolomeo Zanatta Stampator. L. 11 April. 1659' inscription by); Giacomo Francesco Arpino (Doctor of Medicine, various inscriptions and several marginal notes).
FIRST EDITION of the antiquary Count Moscardo's description of his private cabinet of curiosities, assembled over 30 years and incorporating the collection of Francesco Calzolari of Verona. The work is in three sections: the first on antiquities (cose antiche), the second minerals and fossils (pietre, minerali e terre), the third animals, vegetables and 'other things' (corali, conchiglie, animali, frutti ed altere cose). The charming illustrations are by Alberto Pasi. Cicognara 3412; Nissen ZBI 2898.
