cover 1858 Sailors XU5 (with enclosed letter) from China to Dorset bearing 1d. stars cancelled on arrival in London, the XU5 headed from "Chas Whitlock, L. Sergt. R.M., Canton Nov. 24th 1858", the long enclosed letter headed from Canton advises his sister that he has volunteered to leave China for Vancouver Island.
