1930 LAGONDA 2-LITRE LOW CHASSIS FOUR SEAT TOURER
Registration No. KW 9096
Chassis No. OH 9697
Engine No. OH 1445
Red and black with red interior
Engine; four cylinder, overhead valve with twin high mounted camshafts, 1,954cc, 60bhp at 3,500 rpm; Gearbox; four speed sliding mesh; Brakes; four wheel mechanical drum; Suspension; semi-elliptic leaf springs with friction dampers. Right hand drive.
In 1925 Lagonda just beat Riley into production with the first four cylinder car with fully hemispherical combustion chambers. Designed by Arthur Davidson, this high performance car lifted Lagonda out of the light car market and into the sports and fast touring field where they were to become so famous. The 14/60 or 2-litre as it became known, was a beautifully made car with powerful brakes, good handling and a 70mph top speed. It had classic lines even by the high standards of the time, with its louvred chassis fairings, scuttle lamps, low screen, impressive headlamps and mesh-guarded radiator.
This specimen has been in the current ownership for the past 8 years and a few years ago the owner changed the colour from dark blue to red with black wings and this paintwork is still in fine condition. The red upholstery is also relatively new and has been reconnolised. The clock and fuel gauge are not presently working. There is a slight leak from the water pump and a small weep on the engine block, but this does not affect the running of the vehicle. The car comes with hood cover, tonneau and side screens and overall gives the impression of a well maintained vehicle. The only known modifications are an electric fuel pump in place of an Autovac, a modern electric fan and four discreet flashing indicators. In recent months the owner fitted a new radiator core and the electric fan has proved unnecessary since. By the time of the sale the owner intends to have renewed the MoT.
