Lot Essay

Note: The contents recount the arrival at San Miguel of the writer and other Englishmen from the Corpus Coppermines of Guatemala. The writer intended to proceed to the port of Concagua and from there to Sonsonate but his plans were interrupted by fighting between the troops of Guatemala, Leon and Honduras, and Salvador.
The city of San Miguel was then occupied by Guatemalan troops and those of Leon; the latter being prevented from looting, were then departing and engaged in robbing and plundering travellers and local inhabitants en route. He describes an encounter with these troops and the state of the countryside during this period of armed insurrection.
