Note: These overprints were apparently prepared by the Post Office after stocks of the definitive issues were looted from treasury offices and post offices in rural areas by insurgent groups. Only a small supply were so overprinted and eventually the original definitives were replaced by a new series in new colours. See 'Burma Peacock' Vol. 4, No. 2.
