Lot Essay

Van Dongen executed Les glaneuses de Chailly-en-Biére as a tribute to J.F.Millet, basing his oil on Millet's Les Glaneuses now housed in the Musée du Louvre, Paris.

This work will be included in the forthcoming Van Dongen catalogue raisonné currently being prepared by the Wildenstein Institute.
