Lot Essay

This cornice enrichment of The Royal Arms of George III, bears the impressed signature of Coade & Sealy, with the date 1809. John Sealy (d. 1813) became a partner in Mrs Coade'sw flourishing firm in the 1790s. A somewhat larger Coat of Arms is listed in Coade's Catalogue, London 1784, XIV.
