Lot Essay

The inscription reads 'Presented by her Royal Highness Mary Adelaide Duchess of Teck to Mrs Olson, March 1st 1886'

Mary Adelaide, younger daughter of Prince Adolphus Frederick, Duke of Cambridge married (1866) Francis 1st Duke of Teck.
A letter addressed to Mrs Olson and signed by their daughter Victoria Mary of Teck, later wife of George V, is sold with the lot. Also included is a letter in Mrs Olson's hand stating that the brooch was originally presented by Mary Duchess of Gloucester to Queen Victoria who then gifted it to the Duchess of Teck
