Goncalo Alvez is one of the rarest and most exotic tropical hardwoods that were used by English furniture-makers in the early 19th Century. A bookcase by George Bullock in this wood is illustrated in C.Wainwright ed., George Bullock Cabinet-Maker, London, 1988, pp.101-3, no.39.
