Wood was invited by Boris Kochno to design the sets and costumes for a new ballet, 'Luna Park' or 'The Freaks' by George Ballanchine, for the 1930 C.B. Cochran Review. The subject matter of side-show circus freaks inspired many of the artist's last paintings
