a work on astronomy and physical geography dealt with in an introduction and two treatises, Persian manuscript on buff paper, 59ff., each with 11ll. of black naskh, occasional words and phrases in or overlined in red, diagrams in red and black, diagram on f.6v. in polychrome, copious marginal notes in nasta'liq, (slight smudging and staining, occasional repairs to folio edges, folios loose from binding), colophon on final folio signed by Siyawush and dated 1076, earlier black morocco binding with stamped medallion and pendants and maroon border (worn)

Lot Essay

Qushji as a youth was a great favorite of Ulugh Beg who referred to him as his son. He travelled extensively in Persia and southern Russia and died in Constantinople
The marginal commentary is that of another well-known scholar, 'Abd al-'Ali b. Muhammad al-Barjandi.

F.1 has the impression of the seal of Muhammad Mubarak, a servant of 'Alamgir (Aurangzeb 1658-1707 AD).
