AN INDIAN GOLD DAMASCENED STEEL ARMOUR, BOW AND AXE, the armour comprising a set of four body plates, a pair of armguards, and a helmet, the gently rounded body plates of rectangular form hinged together, the plain steel centres with a border of gold meandering flowerhead vine, the side panels also with pendant similar panels, the shallow domed helmet with noseguard and plume holders similarly damascened, the armguards formed of two hinged plates with plain centres and finely damascened meandering floral borders, the bow fashioned from two parts with screw thread link, the entire surface with gold scrolling designs around fine floral cartouches, the simple small axe with steel shaft and brass damascened scrolling designs on the blade, early 19th century (very slight corrosion)
