A SYRIAN TWO-HANDLED VASE on short foot with well-rounded shoulder narrowing to straight-sided neck with two loop handles, the turquoise ground painted in black with a band of roundels containing dot-filled circles within cross-hatched interstices, three black lines below, a band of zig-zag motifs around the neck, the interior plain turquoise, (chips to rim, otherwise intact, areas of silvery irridescence), 4¾in. (12.3cm.) high and TWO SIMILAR SMALLER VASES one with a single loop handle and painted with flowing scrolling vine around the body and neck, the other similarly painted around the body and with a band of fish around the neck, (both intact) all 13th/14th century
