A FINE EARLY ISLAMIC BRONZE EWER with spherical body and tapering cylindrical neck with everted flaring lip on short foot, the simple loop handle with ball knop, the body worked in very shallow repoussé with a hexagonal lattice, an engraved band of lions, winged griffins and bird and arabesque roundels around the shoulder, a large heavily stylised ram's head below, the engraving originally filled with coloured composition, circa 10th century (handle refixed and possible associated)
