A FINE ANATOLIAN CAST BRASS CANDLESTICK with waisted body rising from stepped base, slightly sloping shoulder and tubular neck, the mouth similar in form to the body, the base with a band of kufic benedictory calligraphy on a scrolling vine ground, the body with a central band of roundels depicting the signs of the zodiac between narrow naskh inscription and broader running animal stripes, the shoulder with a band of leafy vine interrupted by sun roundels alternating with smaller diaper-pattern roundels, outer band of running animals alternating with inscription, the neck with an elongated naskh inscription interrupted by two bird roundels, the mouth with a similar naskh inscription with human-headed hastae interrupted by sun and diaper roundels between beaded and plain stripes, 13th century (rubbed, almost no trace of silver remaining)
