A KHORASSAN BRONZE EWER with spherical body and tubular neck extruded to an open trough spout, the simple loop handle with boss thumbpiece and drop-shaped terminal, on short waisted foot, the body with two engraved roundels containing palmettes flanking a similar roundel depicting a bird below an applied band of linked quatrefoil roundels with trefoil terminals, flanked by other smaller similar roundels, a band of meandering leafy vine around the base of the neck, the neck engraved with scrolling motifs within similar and rope-pattern borders, a beaded band around the mouth, engraved meandering vine panel at base of handle, circa 12th century (handle re-joined, base not belonging)
