A FINE MUGHAL IVORY INLAID HARDWOOD CHEST with drop front revealing a series of nine equal drawers on four later ivory domed feet, the top with a central vase issuing a leafy tree with perching birds flanked by small mounds issuing similar smaller trees, two mounted elephants with two attendants below, two birds with their young and floral sprays above, in a meandering leafy and flowerhead border between stripes, the front panel similar but with lower animal combat groups and upper peacocks with snakes, the sides panels with archers below similar trees, the reverse unusually also similarly decorated, the interior of the drop front with a further similar scene, each of the drawers with geometric square central panel between floral sprays, original brass floral knobs, the sides with the original steel loop handles, late 17th century (lock plate replaced and restored, small restorations to inlay)
