AN INDIAN ENAMELLED AND INSET GOLD CUP AND SAUCER, the cup with rounded base on short foot rising to slightly conical cylindrical sides and with loop handle, the saucer with rounded sides and everted rim on short foot, the cup with gold floral sprays left in reserve on a green ground around four pictorial roundels, each with a palace scene with figures in the foreground, blue and gold meandering leafy vine band above, the blue base inset with shallow rose diamonds, the handle similar, the saucer with a central red rosette on white ground within a green band of flowering vine and perching birds, in a green border of animal combat groups divided by red paired bird roundels between ivory and cornflower-blue meandering flowering vine stripes, the exterior with panels of birds among flowering fronds divided by floral and bird roundels, all on a gold ground, the centre of the underside with an applied blue rosette, probably Jaipur, circa 1900 (very slight repared enamel chips)
