The floral decoration around the central inscription is very similar to side panels of floral meander again flanking an inscription on a sword hilt in a private collection (Treasures of Islam, exhibition catalogue, Geneva, 1985, no.308, p.302) where it is tentatively attributed to the workshops of Ulugh Beg (1417-49)
