AN OTTOMAN BRASS 'MAGIC' BOWL, of rounded form with angular central boss, the centre with an interlaced inscription within two bands of further inscription, the sides with cartouches of stylised inscription enclosed within bold interlaced arabesque motifs, a narrow inscription band around the rim, the exterior with a band of inscription cartouches and roundels within similar minor bands, the centre with a six-pointed star, circa 16th century (rubbed), 8in. (20.2cm.) diam., and AN OTTOMAN TURKISH TINNED BRASS MAGIC BOWL of rounded form with small central boss, the interior with cusped lobed panels of stylised inscription within similar plain and roundel stripes around a central sun, the exterior similar, also engraved with the signs of the zodiac, the human figures wearing typical Ottoman headdress, 16th/17th century (tinning later, rubbed base), 5¾in. 914.6cm.) diam.
