'Nothoclana Trichomanoides', 1840s-50s

Cyanotype photogram, 12½ x 7½ in., titled in white ink on recto, untrimmed, archivally taped on white card mount.
Provenance
Formerly in the collection of John Hatton (1882-1972), curator of Buxton Spa and later Bath Spa. From an album of nature prints, pressed ferns and cyanotype impressions dating from the mid 19th century when the Victorian passion for collecting and displaying ferns was at its height. Several of the cyanotypes from this album can be identified by a small mark apparent in the print caused by a flaw in the glass of the printing frame.
