A 15-BORE PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN with three-stage rebrowned twist barrel, octagonal breech signed in full on the top flat, platinum plug, foliate engraved tang, signed foliate engraved lock, figured walnut half-stock (some damage and repairs), chequered grip, engraved iron mounts including butt-plate and trigger-guard (pineapple finial missing), the latter engraved with game birds, horn fore-end cap, silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons, and original brass-mounted wooden ramrod (the barrel and mounts with patches of pitting), by Westley Richards, 170 New Bond St., London, Birmingham proof marks, No. 553, circa 1840
