FLINTLOCK SHOTGUN with rebrowned twist barrels engraved 'Joseph Manton's New Improvements by His Majesty's Patent' on the elevated rib, patent recessed breeches each with water drain, one touch-hole lined with gold, and the other with platinum, scroll engraved tang, signed and engraved bevelled locks each with platinum-filled gravitating stop, roller, and rainproof pan, the patent steels numbered 6729 and 6837(?), figured walnut half-stock (chipped in front of the left lock), chequered grip, engraved iron mounts, later silver escutcheon, gold barrel-bolt escutcheons, and brass-tipped ramrod (in worn condition throughout, with some pitting, cock retaining screws missing), by Joseph Manton, London, No. 6658 for 1815, the barrels forged by William Fullerd
