A PAIR OF FLINTLOCK DUELLING PISTOLS with swamped browned octagonal sighted barrels each with crowned gold-lined maker's stamp in front of the back-sight and stamped registration number 'H124' on the side, single gold line, and gold-lined touch-hole, finely engraved tangs, signed case-hardened bevelled detented locks with rollers, figured walnut full stocks (one fore-end cracked), chequered flat-sided butts, blued steel mounts including finely engraved trigger-guards each with pineapple finial, silver barrel-bolt escutcheons, original ramrods, one with steel powder measure, and some original finish: in lined and fitted mahogany case, probably original, with accessories including three-way flask covered in mottled leather, the lid (repaired) with carrying handle of Chippendale form, by Twigg & Bass, London, circa 1790
