A FINE PAIR OF FLINTLOCK DUELLING PISTOLS with signed browned octagonal barrels, blued back-sights, silver fore-sights, gold-lined touch-holes, case-hardened tangs finely engraved with a martial trophy, signed case-hardened bevelled detented locks with rollers, safety-catches also locking the steels, and gold-lined semi-rainproof pans, figured walnut full stocks, chequered flat-sided butts, blued iron mounts including engraved trigger-guards each with pineapple finial, horn-tipped ramrods, and nearly all their original finish: in original lined and fitted mahogany case with some accessories including three-way flask covered in mottled leather (compartment lids missing), the lid (repaired) without trade label, the exterior with carrying handle of Chippendale form, by John Manton, London, No. 1216 for 1790
