A GILT-METAL-MOUNTED FRENCH WHITE BISCUIT CLOCK-CASE of architectural form, the upper part moulded in high relief with a rustic boy and girl seated and kneeling flanking a large wicker-basket filled with fruit, the lower part with a boy and girl asleep on rocks dotted with vine, on a rectangular plinth, the upper part mounted with a frieze of acanthus within arches and the sides with pierced plaques of fruit in vases and acanthus, the plinth mounted with rectangular plaques cast with playful cherubs and square plaques cast with acanthus, on four feet (various chips to extremities, to back aperture and to plinth), incised imitation interlaced L mark enclosing letter G, circa 1880
