Lot Essay

Born in Lille in 1841, Agathon Léonard (pseudonym of Van Weydeveldt) studied under Deleplanche and at the School of Fine Arts in Lille. He became an Associate of the Artistes Français in 1887 and an Associate of the Societé Nationale in 1897, winning various different medals at the Expositions.
