A GERMAN SILVER, IVORY AND LAPIS LASULI-MOUNTED OVAL DISH, the shaped central oval plaque depicting the triumph of love over war, carved in high relief with cupid sitting on an ornate throne within a horsedrawn chariot with a satyr driver and numerous commanders in full battle-dress, their hands tied behind their backs to the foreground, whilst in the background moves a triumphant throng with banners and trumpets, the silver border engraved with foliage and birds and with a repeating repoussé band of ovals and semi-foliate roundels, with four escutcheons, each centred with a cabuchon lapis lasuli oval and mounted with two pairs of cherubs holding a garland and vines and shields respectively, the outer edge cast with 'C' srolls and bead ornament, with the hallmarks of Neresheimer of Hanau and engraved to the reverse, CHRISTOFFERO JAMNIZER FECIT, with shield below (two cherubs lacking swords), circa 1870
