34 volumes, including the appendix to vols. I-XXIII, 8° (232 x 138mm). Approximately 2638 hand-coloured engraved plates and 3 uncoloured engraved plates in vols. I-XXXII, and in vol. XXXIII, 66 (of 70) hand-coloured lithographic plates, including many folding, mainly after Edwards, M. Hart and Miss Drake; the appendix with a further 9 hand-coloured lithographic plates and engraved illustrations. (Volume XXXIII lacking four plates and with some folding plates repaired, very occasional light spotting and offsetting, mainly onto text.) Contemporary blue half morocco, gilt (extremities very slightly rubbed). Provenance: Frederick DuCane Godman (armorial bookplate). Sold as a periodical, not subject to return.

A complete set of both series of Edwards's Register and Lindley's appendix of 1839. The text of the first fourteen volumes is by John Bellenden Ker, with Edwards's illustrations; the remaining volumes were written by John Lindley,professor of Botany at University College, London. The work changed its name at volume XIV, to become The Botanical Register; or, ornamental flower garden and shrubbery, a title which was adapted by Lindley for the succeeding volumes.
