I - III only (of 5)), 8° (232 x 140mm). 2867 hand-coloured engraved plates, 5 folding, extra-illustrated with one original watercolour by G.E.Smith and the related 2pp. manuscript description. (Lacking plate no. 2536, a duplicate plate 2537 bound in it's place, some ocasional spotting or soiling.) Contemporary calf gilt (the three supplements bound to match), (spines a little rubbed or scuffed). Provenance: Frederick DuCane Godman (armorial bookplate).

FIRST EDITION. The watercolour, which is bound with its description as a 'bis' plate 383 in vol. VI, is of the 'Ophrys arachnites. Late Spider Orchis.'; it is signed with initials and dated 1828. An engraved plate of the same flower, numbered 2596 and dated August 1829, with letterpress description by Gerard Edwards Smith, was published in the first volume of the supplement.
