Large 2° (650 x 480mm). Engraved title by S. Porter after Murphy, introduction with engraved headpiece, list of plates, unnumbered engraved title to the Alhambra section and 102 engraved views, plans and architectural sections and elevations, after Murphy, numbered 1-97. (Some spotting, mostly marginal.) Old red half morocco gilt, g.e. (spine a little darkened and scuffed, corners slightly rubbed). Provenance: Frederick DuCane Godman (armorial bookplate).
A large copy of this "obra suntuosa" (Palau, X, 186308) describing the antiquities of Cordoba and Granada. Plate counts for the work vary: 102 plates and two engraved titles is the maximum recorded. (Plates 8, 79 and 80 are pairs of two each, and number 86 is a group of three.) Palau calls for "99 láms. 27 láms.", whilst Lowndes (vol. II, p. 1635) requires only "100 very highly finished line engravings".
