Lot Essay

A set of nine mahogany armchairs of this design and of similarly narrow proportions were sold from the collecetion of the Earl of Shaftesbury, St.Giles's House, Dorset, in these Rooms, 3 May 1951, lot 67. Another set of ten were sold by the Marquess of Downshire, Sotheby's London, 11 July 1986, lot 46.
