Formerly attributed to Edward Lear, the attribution to Müller is based on an watercolour by him of The Propylaea on the Acropolis, Athens in the Bristol City Art Gallery (see exh. cata. F. Greenacre and S. Stoddard, W.J. Muller (1812-1845), 1991, p. 111, pl. 91. The waterclour probably dates from 1838
