A LARGE INDO-ISFAHAN CARPET, the burgundy field with a counterposed design of scrolling tendrils issuing palmettes and large interlaced serrated scrolling split palmettes around two pairs of indigo stellar medallions containing scrolling arabesques around ochre central flowerheads containing floral motifs or birds, a cusped similar quatrefoil medallion in the centre, the sides with similar indigo and sandy-yellow part medallions, in an indigo border of palmettes flanked by paired serrated leaves alternating with flowerhead vine between ivory, burgundy and minor sand-yellow meandering flowering vine stripes, 17th century (areas of wear and slight repair, many cuts and joins but without apparent loss)
