The Order of Saint Maurice and Saint Lazarus (breast badge) was established by Victor Emanuel of Sardinia in 1816 and was awarded to Catholics for services to the Italian Kingdom. The top collar badge is the Vatican Order of Saint Gregory, created by Pope Gregory XVI in 1831 for services to the Catholic Church. The Royal Order of Francis I was established by Francis I of the Two Sicilies in 1829 as a civil award.
