A BRONZE VASE IN SECTIONAL FORM with two shaped inset panels, one depicting a scholar sitting under a pine tree in mountainous landscape, holding a scroll in his hand, a monkey by his side, a ewer to his right, the top of the panel with the mallet of Daikoku and two mice, the other panel with a courtier in long robes holding a fan, looking out of a window at falling leaves, the top of the panel with three fans, gilt details, ho-o bird handles, surmounted by a circular tray, the interior with a sparrow in relief, leaves and foliage, the stand with six feet shaped as the heads of ho-o birds on claws on a circular base decorated with peonies in gilt details and engraved with lotus leaves (some old damage), signed Hokuetsu Taka junin Sada Hisanaga, Meiji period (1868-1912)
