Lot Essay

A sofa table sold anonymously, Sotheby's London, 12 January 1979, lot 218 was stamped GILLINGTONS 3009. The Dictionary of English Furniture-Makers, Leeds, 1986, p.341, notes only this piece from the firm but a bergère stamped GILLINGTONS 4197 was sold in these Rooms, 7 February 1991, lot 71. A serving-table stamped GILLINGTONS 3426 has since been recorded in an English private collection.
