JULIUS II (1453-1513, Pope from 1503). [Toledo: Juan Varela de Salamanca, 1509 or early 1510].
Eight copies of the indulgence printed from four settings (9 lines each) by two pulls of the press. Chancery full-sheet broadside (427 x 315mm). Unwatermarked paper. Gothic type 13:74. Lombard initial C, woodcut white-on-black circular devices of the Holy Monogram, woodcut signatures didacus episcopus majoricarum (contractions resolved), wafer seals. (Some holes and tears.) Provenance: the broadside owes its survival to the chance that these indulgence forms were not completed and that the copies therefore remain undivided.
All four settings of this eighth-sheet broadside indulgence in Catalan, in favour of a crusade, are APPARENTLY UNRECORDED (not in Perez Pastor or Norton). Diego de Ribera was Bishop of Majorca from 22 December 1508 to 19 March 1512.
