Each side moulded with a blue-enamelled dragon roundel reserved on a yellow trellis-pattern ground within a rectangular cartouche on a coral and gilt ground, on a fixed six-legged iron-red, blue and gilt stand, the pierced cover similarly decorated and with a finial naturalistically moulded as a fruiting peach branch, finial restored

Compare the pierced circular censer and cover of similar height to the present lot included in The International Exhibition of Chinese Art, The Royal Academy of Arts, London, 1935-6, Catalogue no.2093, pp.178 and 195, and also in the illustrated Handbook, Chinese Cultural Art Treasures, National Palace Museum, Taibei, 1969, no.12, pl.8; and the slightly smaller rectangular pierced censer and cover from the Palace Museum, Beijing, illustrated Collection of Masterpieces of Chinese Cultural Relics - Ceramics, Hong Kong, 1993, no.862, p.421.
