Seppelt, Para Liqueur, 100 Year Old Vintage Tawny--1893
Elegant flask-shaped bottled in wooden presentation case, which is velvet lined, with lock and key. The case carries a "Certificate of Authenticity" confirming that this is bottle no. 16 out of only 500 released.
There is a unique tradition at the famour Australian house of Seppelt of holding back one "puncheon" or cask, of their magnificent Para Liqueur from every vintage since 1878 to be bottled no earlier then 100 years after the vintage. The practise was originated by Bruno Seppelt, the son of the founder, to celebrate the opening of his new cellars in 1878, and has continued ever since. The result is that Seppelt, a part of the Penfolds Wine Group, has a unique collection of wines maturing in their cellars, with each vintage awaiting bottling, one hundred years after the relevant vintage.

Tasting note: impressively deep, warm amber-brown colour, opaque at the centre with a pronounded yellow gold edge indicative of age, concentration and quality; sweet bouquet, soft, earthy, raisiny; very sweet, full-bodied yet soft and velvety in texture. Lovely flavour, slightly caramely, great length with lingering after-taste. A great wine by any standards
