Lot Essay

The adaptation of Indian motifs in the jewellery of the 1920s became increasingly significant as can be seen in this necklace and pair of earrings by Cartier. The boteh scroll or Kashmir palm can be seen in the design of Persian carpets, Mogul drawings, Kashmir shawls and Indian turban ornaments.
