Provenance
The above two lots were acquired by Pietro Giorni while employed by the Papacy from about 1840 to 1850 as engineer in the excavation of ancient Rome. Giorni was made a Papal Noble in recognition of his services. The glass which he collected was kept by the Giorni family for three generations
